Wellness Treatment

What is lymphatic drainage?

Lymphatic drainage is a specialist massage technique that uses light, rhythmic pressure to encourage the natural movement of lymph fluid through the body. Unlike deep tissue massage, the pressure is gentle and focused on the lymphatic system, which sits just beneath the skin.

The lymphatic system is responsible for removing waste, toxins, and excess fluid from your tissues. When it becomes sluggish, fluid builds up, leading to bloating, puffiness, and that heavy, uncomfortable feeling. Lymphatic drainage helps get things moving again.

At Trēs, lymphatic drainage is one of our most popular wellness treatments. Clients come to us from across Rossendale and the surrounding areas, often combining it with infrared sauna for an even deeper sense of renewal.

Why It Works

Benefits of lymphatic drainage

Reduces bloating and water retention

One of the most immediate effects. Many clients notice a visible difference after a single session, particularly around the stomach and legs. It is one of the reasons lymphatic drainage has become so popular.

Supports recovery after surgery or illness

Lymphatic drainage is widely used to support recovery after cosmetic procedures, surgery, and periods of reduced mobility. It helps reduce swelling and encourages the body's natural healing process.

Boosts circulation and immune function

By stimulating the lymphatic system, the treatment helps improve overall circulation and supports the body's ability to fight infection. Regular sessions can contribute to better energy levels and general wellbeing.

Relieves tension and promotes relaxation

The gentle, repetitive movements make lymphatic drainage one of the most relaxing treatments we offer. Clients regularly tell us they feel lighter, calmer, and more comfortable after a session.

Your Appointment

What to expect

Your session begins with a brief consultation to understand what you are hoping to achieve. Whether you are dealing with bloating, post-surgical swelling, or simply want to feel lighter and more comfortable, this helps us tailor the treatment to you.

The massage itself uses slow, rhythmic strokes with very light pressure. It is nothing like a deep tissue massage. Most clients find it deeply relaxing, and it is not uncommon to fall asleep during the treatment.

Afterwards, we recommend drinking plenty of water to support the flushing process. You may notice increased need to use the bathroom in the hours following treatment. This is completely normal and a sign that the lymphatic system is responding.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is lymphatic drainage massage?

Lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage technique that uses light, rhythmic pressure to encourage the natural movement of lymph fluid through the body. It helps reduce fluid retention, bloating, and puffiness. At Trēs, we offer full body (£80), stomach (£65), and legs (£70) treatments.

Does lymphatic drainage reduce bloating?

Yes. Lymphatic drainage is one of the most effective treatments for reducing bloating and water retention. Many clients notice a visible difference after a single session. For longer-lasting results, we recommend a course of three sessions.

How long does a session take?

A full body lymphatic drainage session typically takes 60 minutes. Stomach and legs treatments are shorter, usually around 30 to 45 minutes. We recommend arriving a few minutes early for your first appointment.

How many sessions do I need?

Many clients feel noticeably lighter after one session. For ongoing benefits, a course of three full body sessions is available for £200, saving £40 compared to booking individually. Some clients book monthly as part of their wellness routine.

Is lymphatic drainage painful?

No. Lymphatic drainage uses very light, rhythmic pressure. It is one of the gentlest massage techniques available and most clients find it deeply relaxing. It is not a deep tissue massage.

Who should avoid lymphatic drainage?

Lymphatic drainage is not suitable for anyone with active infections, blood clots, heart failure, or certain cancers. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition, please let us know when booking so we can advise whether the treatment is appropriate for you.

Can I combine lymphatic drainage with other treatments?

Yes. Lymphatic drainage paired with infrared sauna is a popular combination. The sauna helps open up the body before the massage, enhancing the results. We also offer cryotherapy and body wraps as part of our full wellness menu.

Is there parking at Trēs?

Yes. There is free on-street parking directly outside on Deardengate, and Haslingden Market car park is less than a minute's walk away. No meters, no tickets.
